Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 22, 2026

This policy explains what information the Beepout: Arrow Escape Puzzle app ("Beepout", "the app") and this website use, why, and the choices you have. Beepout is made by Quang Trung Nguyen, an individual developer based in Australia ("I", "me").

The short version

  • There is no account and no sign-in. I never ask for your name, email or phone number.
  • Your progress, settings, streaks and Bot Bay collection are stored on your device only.
  • The app shows ads from Google AdMob. Google uses your device's advertising ID only if you are an adult and allow tracking when iOS asks.
  • Players under 13 get no ads at all: the ads software is never started for them. Players aged 13 to 17 see only non-personalised ads.
  • The app sends anonymous usage events (PostHog, never for players under 13) and crash reports (Sentry) so I can fix problems and improve the game.
  • Leaderboards and achievements use Apple Game Center, which Apple runs.
  • I don't sell your personal information.

1. Information stored on your device

Beepout keeps these on your iPhone or iPad:

This information is not sent to me or to anyone else. If you use iCloud or computer backups, your device's backup may include it, as it does for other apps; Apple handles those backups under your Apple account settings.

2. Apple Game Center

If you are signed in to Game Center on your device, Beepout sends your scores and achievements to Game Center so they appear on leaderboards and in your Game Center profile. Game Center is run by Apple under the Apple Privacy Policy. Other players may see your Game Center nickname and scores, depending on your Game Center settings. I don't receive your Apple Account details, and Beepout doesn't attach your Game Center identity to ads, analytics or crash reports. You can play without Game Center; you can sign out in iOS Settings → Game Center.

3. Advertising (Google AdMob)

Beepout is free because it shows ads from Google AdMob, which is run by Google LLC. Ads appear in two ways:

When the app requests and shows an ad, Google's software in the app may collect:

The order of the privacy questions. Nothing is asked during your first session. After your first session of play has ended:

  1. the app asks iOS for your age range (see section 7),
  2. where the law requires it, Google's consent message shows your ad choices,
  3. then, for adults only, iOS may ask whether Beepout can track your activity across other companies' apps and websites (App Tracking Transparency).

You can reopen Google's consent message in the app under Settings → Privacy choices when it applies where you live. Ads in Beepout are limited to content rated suitable for general audiences.

Google uses this information under its own policies: How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and the Google Privacy Policy.

4. Product analytics (PostHog)

The app sends anonymous usage events to PostHog, a product analytics service, so I can see which levels are too hard, where players stop, and what to improve. Examples: "level started" and "level solved" with the level number, hearts left and time taken, a hint or undo used, an ad shown, a setting changed, and whether a privacy question was answered.

5. Crash and error reports (Sentry)

If the app crashes, freezes or hits an error, it sends a diagnostic report to Sentry, an error-monitoring service. A report contains technical details such as the error, the part of the app where it happened, the app and iOS version, the device model and the steps in the app leading up to it. Sentry's collection of personal information is turned off: reports are not linked to your identity, and Sentry is set up not to store your IP address. I use them only to find and fix bugs.

6. Purchases (Remove Ads)

An optional one-time Remove Ads purchase is planned. When it is available, payment is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store; I never see your card or payment details. The app only learns from Apple whether Remove Ads has been bought on your Apple Account, so it can turn ads off and so you can restore it with Restore Purchases. Refunds are handled by Apple.

7. Age range (Apple's Declared Age Range)

Where iOS supports it, the app asks iOS for your age range (for example under 13, 13 to 17, or 18 and over), never your birth date. The answer is used on your device only, to decide which ads you may see:

The age range is not sent to me or shared with anyone.

8. What Beepout does not do

9. This website

beepout.pages.dev is a plain website with no cookies, no analytics, no scripts and no trackers. It is hosted by Cloudflare Pages, which processes standard technical data (such as IP addresses) to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse.

10. Who receives information

Google AdMobShowing and measuring ads (not for under-13s)Advertising ID (adults who allow tracking only), device info, IP address and approximate location, ad interactions, ad diagnostics
PostHogAnonymous product analyticsUsage events with a random install identifier, device info

CloudflareHosting this websiteStandard technical data such as IP addresses

These providers are located in, or process data in, the United States and other countries. I may also disclose information if the law requires it.

11. How long information is kept

12. Your choices and deleting your data

13. Your rights under US state privacy laws

Several US states, including California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas and Oregon, give residents rights over their personal information. Depending on your state, these may include the right to know, access, correct and delete personal information, to opt out of its "sale", "sharing" for cross-context behavioural advertising, or "targeted advertising", and not to be treated differently for using these rights.

I do not sell personal information for money. However, if you allow tracking, letting Google use your advertising ID to personalise ads may count as "sharing" or "targeted advertising" under some state laws. You can opt out at any time by choosing "Ask App Not to Track" (or turning tracking off in iOS Settings) and by using Settings → Privacy choices in the app.

Because Beepout has no account and keeps your game data on your device, most requests can be completed by you directly in the app. For anything else, email me. I will respond within 45 days and will not charge you. If I can't complete a request, I will explain why, and you can appeal by replying with "Appeal" in the subject. If you are not satisfied with the appeal, you may contact your state attorney general.

Categories of personal information (California notice): identifiers (advertising ID, only with your permission; a random install identifier; IP address), internet and device activity (ad interactions, app usage events, diagnostics) and approximate location (from IP address). Sources: your device and the app. Purposes: showing ads, analytics and fixing bugs. No sensitive personal information is collected.

14. If you are outside the United States

If you live in the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area, Vietnam, Australia or another place with privacy laws, you have rights under your local law, such as access, correction, deletion and objection. Where required, Google asks for your consent before using your data for ads, and you can change it in Settings → Privacy choices. The legal bases are your consent (personalised ads, where consent is required) and my legitimate interest in keeping the app working and improving it (anonymous analytics and crash reports). Email me for any request; you may also complain to your local data protection authority.

15. Children

Beepout is a puzzle game suitable for all ages, rated 4+. Where iOS reports that a player is under 13, the app never starts the ads software or product analytics, so no advertising or usage data is collected. Only anonymous crash reports, which are not linked to anyone's identity, are sent, solely to keep the app working. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given me personal information, for example in an email, tell me and I will delete it.

16. Security

Information sent to the services above travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Your on-device game data is protected by your device's own security, such as your passcode.

17. Changes to this policy

If the app starts handling data differently, for example when Remove Ads goes on sale or a new online feature is added, I will update this page and the effective date before the change goes live, and mention it in the app's release notes.
